Odessa, Texas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's and women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the 2017 ITA Regional Championships on Sunday, October 1. Sophomore Tabitha Porter (Norwich, England/Northcote College) walked home as champion of the 2017 ITA Regional Championship. 
 
 Porter finished as the 2017 South Central Regional Champion, for the first time in program history.  Porter will compete at the 2017 ITA National Championship in Indian Wells, Calif. November 1-5.

Women's singles:
Semifinals: Tabitha Porter (Norwich, England/Northcote College) (MSUD) def. Maddy Coffman: 6-2, 6-4
Championship: Tabitha Porter (Norwich, England/Northcote College) (MSUD) def. Zhenia Shviadok: 6-3, 3-6, 10-4
 
Women's doubles:
Round of 16: Goodland and Torres defeat Porter and Pessoa: 9-8(7-0)
 
On the men's side, sophomore Alejandro Martinez-Morilla (Madrid, Spain/I.E. Valdecas) fell in the quarterfinals. Martinez- Morilla and freshman Daniel Lloerente () fell in the quarterfinals of doubles competition as well. Senior Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) and junior Joey Tscherne (Sylmar, Calif./John F. Kennedy H.S.) fell in the round of 32 of doubles competition.
