Harry Temmer, who played an instrumental role in the birth of Metro State College, was also responsible for starting both the men's and women's soccer programs in the 1960s.

A local legend in the soccer community, Temmer helped create, originate, and in some cases fund, many of the youth soccer programs in the Denver area.  Temmer has been involved with soccer along the Front Range at every level from little leagues to the professional ranks since the 1950s.

At the time of his induction, he was the only coach in Metro State men's soccer history to surpass the 200-win plateau, Temmer's career record stands at 202-157-30 (.562).  He coached the men's program from 1968 to 1985 and also coached the women's program from 1977 to 1983.  He played a major role in the development of women's soccer, not only at Metro State, but in Colorado.  His efforts helped women compete intercollegiately in soccer.  Temmer also played a big part in establishing athletic scholarships at Metro State.

Named Coach of the Year several times during his tenure, Temmer led his soccer teams to nine NAIA District VII championships.  He coached several All-Americans, many of whom have evolved into major roles in soccer themselves.  Notably, Temmer coached former All-Americans Lorne Donaldson and Emilio Romero.  Both went on to play and coach in Colorado.  Romero served as an assistant for the Colorado Rapids.

At an age when soccer was booming in the 1980s, Temmer helped initiate and fund, as a limited partner, the first professional soccer team in Denver, formerly known as the Denver Dynamos.  Temmer formulated and conducted countless camps and clinics while coaching at Metro State.  Additionally, he originated the Colorado Soccer Coaches Association within the Colorado High School Activities Assocition.

One of the original 35 faculty members at Metro State, Temmer created the civil engineering, mechanical engineering, surveying and meteorology departements at the College.  He served as the electronics department chair for 12 years, as well as a member of the faculty senate for 17 years.

After working as a professor teaching several different courses spanning 22 years, Temmer retired from Metro State in 1994.  He and his wife, Barbara, are the proud parents of four children.
