Joe Strain
Strain, like Brown, is well-known around the Denver area for his success outside of the Metro State program. He was one of the most successful high school boys' basketball coaches for 34 years prior to his tenure at Metro State, coaching at Manual, South and George Washington High Schools where he won several state championships. At Metro State, he was head coach of the men's basketball team for one season in 1993-94 after serving as an assistant for seven years. During that season, he guided the Roadrunners to a 14-13 record. He was an integral part of building Metro State into a powerhouse during his time as an assistant under head coach Bob Hull.
