Volleyball 1978-79, 1982

Kathy Crusan-Walker was one of the best volleyball players at Metro State in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but her career beyond Metro State is what stands out the most.

While at Metro State, she played three years (1978, 1979 and 1982), leading the Roadrunners to the NAIA Tournament each year, including a third place finish in 1982. The 1978 squad posted the best record in school history at the time of her induction, going 36-3 overall after an undefeated regular season.

Following Metro State, Crusan-Walker began a professional career that included doubles and mixed 6-on-6.  She competed at numerous doubles tournaments in the 1980s, never placing lower than fourth place in a tournament and capturing the Shoreline/U-Trau Women's AA championship in 1988.

In mixed six volleyball, she was on nine regional USVBA championship teams, including six placewinner teams at the USVBA national tournament. Her team's top finish was in 1987, placing third in the A Division. Crusan-Walker was named to all-region all-star teams four times.  She sat out two seasons in the early 1990s due to a knee surgery and two pregnancies.

Crusan-Walker married John Walker, a former baseball player at Metro State. The couple has two children, Nick and Alex.
