Marina Bazana was a big part of Metro State's turnaround

from the team's worst record in school history in 1999 to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000. After transferring from Western Nebraska Community College, the native of Brazil quickly became one of the team's leaders.
Bazana earned first team all-region and All-RMAC honors in each of her two years at Metro State in 2000 and 2001. Her 4.45 kills per set in 2000 ranked eighth in school history and her 4.32 digs per set that year also ranked eighth at the time of her induction. Those numbers helped the Roadrunners turn a 10-21 record in 1999 into a 21-9 season in 2000 and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
As a senior in 2001, Bazana led the Roadrunners to the regular season RMAC championship and the school's first RMAC Tournament championship, as Metro State advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, a streak that remains active today. Bazana averaged 4.24 kills and 4.21 digs as a senior and led the team in both categories in each of her years at Metro State.
Bazana was named to the RMAC's All-Time team in 2009.
