Volleyball Head Coach 1968-87
Pat Johnson is one of the most important figures in Metro State volleyball history. Johnson coached the Roadrunners for the first 20 years of the program and held the best record by over 150 wins with a career mark of 391-232-1 (.627) at the time of her induction.
She led Metro State to four AIAW/NAIA Tournament appearances in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before coaching her last year in 1987.
The Roadrunners qualified for the postseason three straight years from 1977-79, including the College's best record ever in 1978 at 36-3 after an undefeated regular season. In 1982, Metro State finished third at the NAIA Tournament, the best national finish in Metro State volleyball history. As a result, she was named NAIA District VII Coach of the Year
Johnson also coached basketball, softball, track, skiing and field hockey in the early years of Metro State athletics, while directing curriculum for the physical education department.
