DENVER – MSU Denver coach
Tanya Haave has announced that 6-foot-1 power forward Sarah Litchford has signed a national letter of intent to join the program this fall.
Litchford was an all-state first team selection for Ridgeline High School in Millville, Utah, where she averaged 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 blocked shots this past season. She led Utah's Class 4A in blocked shots.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Sarah to our Roadrunner family!" Haave said. "Sarah is a skilled, versatile forward who can play facing the basket or with her back to the basket. She is also the consummate team player as evidenced through her assist totals by getting her teammates involved when she has been double- and triple-teamed."
Haave said Litchford's skill set is similar to returning MSU Denver star
Allie Navarette, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year and an All-America honorable mention selection.
Besides shooting 42.9 percent from the field, she also made 31.8 percent (21 of 66) from 3-point range for the Riverhawks, who were 15-8 overall and finished second in their region at 7-3 and reached the Class 4A state quarterfinals.
"Her play reminds me a lot of
Allie Navarette," Haave said, "and Allie will be the perfect mentor for her as she learns the college game while also contributing to the team. Welcome to MSU Denver, Sarah!"
