John Bynum

A starting guard for MSU Denver's Division II national championship basketball team in the 1999-2000 season as well as for the national runner-up team in 1998-99, John Bynum returned to the program for 2019-20, joining Michael Bahl's staff as an assistant coach. 
  
Bynum averaged 12.8 points per game for the 1999-2000 national championship team, shooting 54.8 percent from the field and 40 percent (16 of 40) from 3-point range.
 
He averaged 9.9 points for the national runner-up team the previous season, shooting 51.7 percent (122 of 236) from the field.
 
Bynum was the team's third-leading scorer each of his two seasons with the Roadrunners. He scored 799 points in two seasons at MSU Denver, which has the best all-time winning percentage in the history of Division II basketball.
 
Bynum was named to the Elite Eight all-tournament team in 2000.
 
Following his two-year stay with the Roadrunners, Bynum played professionally overseas for 14 years, primarily for teams in Germany, but he also had stints in England, Norway and Cyprus.
 
Since 2014, Bynum had been a scout and writer for Signal the Light Basketball, covering junior college basketball in the state of California.
 
Bynum originally came to MSU Denver after playing for two seasons at College of the Sequoias (Calif.).
 
He had also worked as a basketball trainer for Shoot 360 since 2016, and he spent two years coaching AAU basketball.
