The No. 18 Metro State men's soccer team battled No. 3 Fort Lewis to a 2-2 tie, Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play at Auraria Field. The 'Runners move to 7-2-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the RMAC.
Metro State struck first when Steven Emory took a cross field pass from Tyler Hambrick and punched it into the net. Fort Lewis tied the score at 1-1 in the 56th minute, but Kellen Johnson scored his 10th goal of the season off an assist from Ola Sandquist to give the 'Runners a 2-1 advantage. Fort Lewis struck back just four minutes later to tie the score at 2-2. Both teams had just one shot on goal each in the two overtimes, but neither could manage a score. As is typical when these two teams meet, the game was very physical, with seven yellow cards and one red card issued.
The 'Runners travel to Colorado State-Pueblo, Friday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
