Erin Keller (Fort Morgan, Colo./Fort Morgan H.S.) had a career high 16 kills to lead the Metro State volleyball team (17-8, 15-3 RMAC) to a 25-23, 25-15, 22-15, 25-18 victory over Chadron State, Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play in Chadron, Neb.
Chadron started the match well, taking an early 4-1 lead, but the 'Runners battled back and tied the score at 16-16. The teams traded points until 20-21, when MSCD got back to back kills from Emily Greenhalgh and Darcy Schwartzman along with a CSC attack error to pull ahead 23-21. A kill from Keller gave the Roadrunners set point, but Chadron countered with a kill to close the score to 23-24. A hitting error from Chadron State closed the tight first set for Metro State.
The 'Runners controlled the second set, holding the Eagles to just five kills and an .034 hitting percentage. Metro State could not find its rhythm in the third set, committing 15 total errors. The 'Runners managed to put it back together in the fourth set and cruised to the victory.
Lisa Jones added a season high 15 kills and four blocks, and freshman Emily Greenhalgh had 14 assists, nine kills, seven digs and three blocks.
The 'Runners finish off regular season RMAC play at the Colorado School of Mines, Saturday night at 7 p.m.
