The No. 14 Metro State women's soccer team (2-1) opened its 2008 home schedule with a 2-0 victory over the University of Mary, Monday afternoon at Auraria Field.

Vanessa Mais opened the scoring for the 'Runners putting a penalty kick in the goal at 27:36 in the first half. Becca Mays added a late goal on an assist from Gabby Klipp to give the Roadrunners the 2-0 victory.

Junior Becca Maloney earned the shutout, saving six shots. Metro State out shot Mary, 15-12 and had more shots on goal 11-6.

MSCD will next host Washburn University Friday at 5 p.m., MST.
