The Metro State volleyball team defeated Chadron State in three games, Saturday evening in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play at the Auraria Events Center. The 'Runners prevailed, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.
MSCD continued the habit of coming out slowly, allowing the Eagles to stay close until the end of the set. With the score tied at 16-16 the 'Runners used strong serving to go on a 9-2 run and close out the set. Junior Amanda Cook led the offense with five kills in the set.
After falling behind early in the second game, Metro responded to establish a 14-7 advantage. Chadron would rally behind outside hitter Elizabeth Most to close the score to 18-17. A kill and two consecutive service aces from Lisa Jones allowed the 'Runners to pull away, finishing the set on Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.)'s fifth kill of the game.
The third game was back and forth as well with neither team building a lead larger than four points. The 'Runners closed the game strong on two kills from freshman Emily Greenhalgh.
For the second consecutive night Cook and Morley led the offense with 13 kills apiece. Greenhalgh added eight kills and freshman Julie Causseaux chipped in six kills and four blocks.
