The Metro State women's volleyball team (5-5, 3-0 RMAC) played its best defensive match of the season, defeating Colorado Christian, 3-0, Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play in Lakewood, Colo.
The 'Runners posted 66 digs in the match, let by junior libero Amy Watanabe with 18 digs. Freshman Emily Greenhalgh led the offense with 16 kills on a .406 hitting percentage. Amanda Cook posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
CCU utilized tough serving to put pressure on the 'Runners offense. The result was a quick start in all three games for the Cougars. MSCD was able to use its athleticism to battle through and close out all three games.
Metro State travels to Colorado Springs to take on UC-Colorado Springs, Saturday at 7 p.m. The 'Runners have not defeated the Mountain Lions in the Lions Den since 2003.
