Roadrunners Cruise Past Cowgirls

DENVER, Colo. - Rae Bean led five Metro State players in double figures with 20 points as the Roadrunners cruised past New Mexico Highlands, 92-64 at the Auraria Event Center.

The teams were tied at 17-17 midway through the first half, but Metro State used a 12-2 run to build a 10-point cushion with just over four minutes to go in the first stanza and carried a 38-26 lead to the locker room.

The Roadrunners opened the second half with 16-3 run as they scored on eight of their first 10 possessions with several players finding the net. Megan Sinclair and Bean each hit a pair of layups, while Leandra Sands drained a three-pointer to pace Metro State during the run.

Sinclair and Sands finished the game with 16 points each, while Sharaya Selsor added 18 points and Chelsea Williamson (Boulder, Colo./Boulder H.S.) chipped in 13. Williamson and Sinclair also finished the game with seven assists apiece as Metro State posted 27 helpers as a team.

Oliana Seanoa led the Cowgirls with 19 points. New Mexico Highlands slipped to 2-12 overall and 0-7 in the RMAC, while Metro State improved to 7-8 overall and 5-2 in RMAC play.

The Roadrunners continue their home stand with a matchup vs. Regis Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.
