DENVER, Colo.- Freshman Jasmine Cervantes led the Roadrunners with a game-high 18 points, leading to an 86-66 victory over the visiting Mountain Lions from UCCS. Four additional Metro State players scored in double figures. Cervantes shot 6-for-10 from the field and was 6-for-8 from the free throw line. Sharaya Selsor posted 17 points, including 3-for-3 from the three-point line.
Metro State dominated the first half, leading by 18 at the break, 42-24. The second half was more of an even match as the Mountain Lions came within six points at the 12:00 minute mark, 54-48. A three-point basket by Selsor with 8:34 left in the game put the Roadrunners up 68-52 as they pulled away for their sixth win in conference play. The largest margin for Metro State was 23 with :54 seconds left in the game.
Megan Sinclair finished with 16 points, and Rae Bean and Kiley Gill each finished with 10 points. The Roadrunners shot 54.2 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Alex Sherk led the Mountain Lions with 14 points, going 4-for-5 from three-point range. UCCS fell to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in the RMAC. Metro State is now 8-9 overall and 6-3 in the RMAC.
The Roadrunners travel to Colorado Christian Friday, Jan. 30, followed by a road game at Colorado Mines Saturday, Jan. 31. Metro State returns home Feb. 6 to face Chadron State at 5 p.m.
