SILVER CITY, N.M. - Jesse Wagstaff and Donte Nicholas each turned in double-doubles as Metro State posted an 84-68 win at Western New Mexico. Wagstaff finished the game with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Nicholas added 18 points and 10 boards off the bench.
The Mustangs held a 41-39 advantage at halftime stayed with the Roadrunners through much of the second half before Wagstaff started a 15-0 Metro State run on a jumper with 12:37 to play. The Roadrunners built a 67-56 lead at that point in the contest after holding Western New Mexico scoreless for over six minutes.
The Roadrunners held a 29-5 advantage in bench points and outscored the Mustangs 48-28 in the paint.
Metro State, now 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the RMAC, travels to Johnson & Wales Saturday, Jan. 10. The Roadrunners return to the Auraria Event Center Friday, Jan. 16 to face Colorado State-Pueblo at 7 p.m.
