Women Down Western New Mexico

SILVER CITY, N.M. - Sharaya Selsor led three Roadrunners in double figures with 18 points as Metro State moved past Western New Mexico, 72-58 in RMAC play.

Jasmine Cervantes, who scored the first six Metro State points of the game, finished the contest with 16 points, while Rae Bean added 16 points as well.

Metro State took control early and built a 42-28 lead at the break after hitting on 6-of-9 shots from three-point range, including two treys from Chelsea Williamson (Boulder, Colo./Boulder H.S.) and another pair of trifectas from Selsor. The Roadruners dominated the boards in the first stanza, holding a 21-10 rebounding advantage.

The passing game was clicking for Metro State as the team notched 21 assists, including four different Roadrunners with four helpers each.

Metro State, now 4-1 in the RMAC, hosts Colorado State-Pueblo Friday, Jan. 16 at the Auraria Event Center. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
