GOLDEN, Colo. -

Dominique Griffith (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) had five saves for Metro State, but his counterpart, Manville Strand stopped 10 shots for CSM.

The shots were even between the two teams, with each team attempting 16 shots.  Metro State had a 10-8 edge in shots on goal, but the Orediggers were able to capitalize three times.

Cale Haas scored less than two minutes into the game as he headed in Alex Nass' pass.

CSM led 2-0 less than seven minutes into the game as Phil Wilson scored from 15 yards out on the left side, scoring inside the far post.

The score remained until just over 10 minutes into the second half when Nass scored his own goal as he beat a defender from the top of the box.

Metro State had a chance late to get back into the game as a red card was assessed on CSM's Masaki Hemmi, but Strand made two saves for Mines in the final four minutes and a shot by Sam Rolph (Denver, Colo./Mullen H.S.) went wide right.

Scott Grode (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha H.S.) led Metro State with six shot attempts and Ri Armstrong (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) added three.

The Roadrunners host Mesa State at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at Auraria Field.
