DENVER, Colo. -
The No. 24 Metro State men's soccer game cruised to a 7-0 victory over Colorado Christian on Sunday at home behind Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.)'s four assists.  The Roadrunners have won four of their past five games and are now 11-5-2 overall and 8-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  CCU fell to 2-15-2 overall and 0-12-1 in the RMAC.

Emory's four assists marked just the fifth time in school history that a Metro State player has had four or more assists in a game.  Jorge Mena holds the record of five, set on Oct. 9, 1998, against McPherson.  Phillip Owen was the last player with four in a game against CCU on Oct. 4, 2005.

The Roadrunners had a season-high 35 shot attempts, while surrendering just four to the Cougars.

Ri Armstrong (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.), Scott Grode (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha H.S.) and Mike Martinez (Thornton, Colo./Horizon H.S.) each had their first multi-goal games of their respective careers, each scoring twice on Sunday.  Emory scored the remaining goal for his 10th this season.  He tied a career high with six points in the game.

Grode also had two assists for a career high six points.

Dominique Griffith (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) made four saves for Metro State for his seventh shutout this season.  He is just two shy of the school record of nine shutouts in a season, set by David McReavy in 2004.

Grode opened the scoring in the 11th minute, scoring off Sam Rolph (Denver, Colo./Mullen H.S.)'s corner kick.

Armstrong scored the next two goals.  The first came in the 35th minute after Emory led Armstrong to a breakaway.  His second goal game off a throw-in by Pat Laughlin (Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) in the 44th minute as Metro State took a 3-0 lead into the half.

Martinez scored in the 50th minute after Emory led him on a breakaway.  Martinez scored again just two minutes later.  Tyler Hambrick (Northglenn, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) passed the ball ahead to Grode on the left side, who found Martinez in front for the goal.

Emory scored in the 55th minute from the left side inside the box after receiving the ball from Grode.

Grode finished the scoring in the 58th minute on a shot from in front of the net off another assist from Emory.

Laughlin had a shot graze the top of the crossbar in the 75th minute and Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) hit the left post in the 86th minute for a pair of late scoring chances.

Senior David Roesener (Altus, Okla./Faith Christian H.S.) also had a scoring chance in the 79th minute, but missed high from inside the box on the right side.  It was Roesener's first career game after joining the team earlier this season as a backup goalkeeper.

Metro State will host No. 15 Colorado Mines on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., before heading to the RMAC Tournament in Durango to face Mines again on Friday at noon.  Tuesday's game was originally schedule for this past Friday, but there was over a foot of snow on the field on Friday following last week's snowstorm.
