DENVER, Colo. - Megan Sinclair posted a career-high 28 points and seven steals to lead the Roadrunners to a 75-62 victory over the Eagles from Chadron State at the Auraria Events Center.
The Roadrunners shot 17-for-33 (51.5 percent) from the field in the first half as they erased a 27-20 Chadron State lead to take a 38-31 advantage to the locker room at intermission.
The second half was all Metro State as they used solid defense to pull away from the Chadron State, holding the Eagles to just 9-for-29 shooting in the period. Sinclair gave the Roadrunners their largest lead of the game after connecting on a pair of free throws and nailing a jumper after a Chadron State intentional foul late in the second stanza.
Chelsea Williamson and Sharaya Selsor both scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively, for Metro State. The Roadrunners shot a season-high 90.9 percent (minimum 10 attempts) from the free throw line, hitting 10-of-11 attempts.
Alyssa Lyman tallied 19 points off the bench to lead Chadron State, who fell to 10-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
Metro State, now 9-11 overall and 7-5 in the RMAC, hosts Nebraska-Kearney Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. Fans can follow the action LIVE on GameTracker, an online feature which tracks play-by-play, individual and team stats and game trends as the game is being played.
The Roadrunners play their final two regular season home games next weekend, Feb. 13-14, vs. Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian, respectively. The Feb. 14th game has been designated Fan Appreciation Day, with plenty of giveaways and a pre-game tailgate party at 11:30 a.m. at the Event Center. The men's game tips off at 1 p.m. and will be nationally televised live on CBS CollegeSports. The women's game follows at 3:30 p.m.
