Minor and Morse Lead Metro State to Road Victory

No. 23 Metro State had four players score in double figures as the Roadrunners rolled to an 83-67 victory at Chadron State on Saturday afternoon.  Metro State improved to 18-3 overall and 11-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC dropped to 8-12 overall and 6-7.

Brian Minor (Clovis, Calif./Clovis H.S.) led the Roadrunners with 18 points, seven steals and six assists, hitting 6-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-5 at the line.  Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) also put together an excellent day, with 16 points and five rebounds as the freshman made 7-of-8 shots.

Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) came off the bench for the second straight game and scored 14 points and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.  Donte Nicholas (Washington, D.C./Oakton H.S.) added 13 points as 11 different players scored for Metro State.

Chadron State shot a blistering 62.5 percent in the first half, but Metro State still led the majority of the half and took a 39-32 lead into the break.  The Roadrunners also shot well, connecting on 46.4 percent from the floor and turned the ball over just three times.

Metro State used a 27-9 run midway through the second half to take a 25-point lead at 77-52 with 5:26 left in the game, its largest lead.

The Roadrunners committed just eight turnovers in the game, their second-lowest total of the season.  They also shot 51.9 percent in the game, including 58.3 percent in the second half.

Metro State will return to the Denver Metro Area for two road games next weekend at Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines.

Game Notes: Metro State improved to 10-0 this season when scoring 80 or more points ... Tucker Long (Pocatello, Idaho/Century H.S.), who had five 3-pointers all season, has hit a 3-pointer in each of the past two games ... Minor's seven steals tied a career and season high ... Minor is also averaging 17.0 points in has last three games ... Nicholas' 13 points were his lowest point total since scoring 11 on Dec. 4 against Fort Lewis ... he has scored in double digits in 17 consecutive games ... Metro State is 13-0 this season when Morse scores 10+ points.
