DENVER -
No. 12 Metro State fell to No. 10 Southwest Minnesota State 26-24, 25-12, 22-25, 25-20 on Friday afternoon at the Colorado Premier Challenge hosted by Metro State and Regis University.  The Roadrunners fell to 3-2 this season, while SMSU improved to 6-0.

Three Metro State players reached double digits in kills, as Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) led the way with 13, followed by Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) with 11 and Lisa Jones (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East H.S.) with 10.  Morley had a double-double with 12 digs as well.  Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) dug up 21 balls, a season high for the freshman.

A block by Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) and Julie Causseaux (Dumas, Texas/Dumas H.S.) gave the Roadrunners set point in the first set at 24-23, but the Mustangs rallied with the next three points.

The Roadrunners followed that up with an abysmal offensive performance in the second set, hitting -.069 with nine attack errors and just seven kills.  SMSU scored 11 straight points to take a 16-5 lead.  But Metro State rebounded with a strong performance in the third, with Morley and Greenhalgh each putting down five kills from their outside position, helping the team hit .286 in the third.

SMSU took the fourth set to secure the win by out-hitting the Roadrunners .222 to .146.
