DENVER - After losing the first two sets, No. 12 Metro State rallied to down No. 25 West Florida 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-9 on Saturday at the Colorado Premier Challenge hosted by Metro State and Regis University.  The Roadrunners finished the tournament 2-2, moving to 5-3 on the season.  UWF went 1-3 in the tournament to drop to 4-3 on the season.

The Roadrunners hit just .169 in the first two sets and allowed the Argonauts to hit .390 to fall down 2-0 in the match.

Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) broke a 23-23 tie in the third set with a kill and the Roadrunner used an attack error by UWF to win the set.

Metro State hit .438 in the fourth set, led by seven kills in eight attempts by Anna Mapes (Chaska, Minn./Chaska H.S.) as the Roadrunners cruised to a more comfortable victory to even the match.  At 15-13, Mapes put down a kill to start a rally served by Lisa Jones (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East H.S.) as Metro State scored seven straight points to lead 22-13.

After falling behind 3-0 in the deciding set, Mapes again helped the comeback and her back-to-back kills put the Roadrunners up 8-7.  Leading 10-9, Metro State scored the final five points, with the last four all coming on blocks as the defense rose to the occasion.

Sarah McGaffin (Phoenix, Ariz./Horizon H.S.), who took over at setter in the second set, dished out 40 set assists in the most action she has seen in her freshman season.  She also had 14 digs.

Mapes led Metro State with 16 kills and had no errors in 21 attempts for a .762 hitting percentage.  Morley added 14 kills, while Jones had 13 and Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) had 11.  McGaffin's team-high 14 digs topped Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.), who had 13.
