Issa Bissau (Denver, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) stopped all three Oredigger shots on goal to earn his fifth shutout of the season. The Roadrunners were out-shot 14-12 in a very even game, but held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. CSM goalkeeper Manville Strand stopped all four shots on goal from Metro State.
Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.) put a shot on goal less than six minutes into the game. With the shot attempt, he became Metro State's all-time leader in shot attempts. Strand made another save on a shot by
Scott Grode (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha H.S.) just over two minutes later as the Roadrunners put the pressure on early. Metro State went into halftime with an 8-5 shot advantage, though the second half was much less action-packed with CSM holding a 3-2 shot advantage.
Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) had perhaps the game's best scoring chance when his shot hit the crossbar in the 51st minute.
Bissau stopped a shot in the 99th minute as the game moved to overtime after Metro State defenders blocked a pair of shots earlier in the first overtime period.
The final extra session was back-and-forth. Grode put a shot on goal in the 109th minute, the only shot on goal of the second overtime period.
