DENVER - No. 10 Metro State held Chadron State to a -.011 hitting percentage as it swept Chadron State 25-14, 25-10, 25-14 on Friday evening at home. The Roadrunners improved to 20-4 overall and 12-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC fell to 5-22 and 0-15.
It is Metro State's third straight 20+ win season.
Julie Causseaux (Dumas, Texas/Dumas H.S.) had 14 points in the short match, leading with 10 kills and six blocks, while hitting .500 (10-2-16).
Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) also had nine kills, while
Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) added eight and
Shayne Kovach (Fruita, Colo./Fruita Monument H.S.) had six.
Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) had nine digs to lead 13 different players that had at least one dig, helping the Roadrunners their second match this season of holding an opponent to a negative hitting percentage. Causseaux's six block assists helped Metro State to 10 team blocks.
Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.), Kovach and
Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) each had three.
Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.)'s 22 assists and
Vanessa Gemignani (Colorado Springs/Doherty H.S.)'s 13 helped Metro State hit .347.
Trailing 10-9 in the first set, Metro State scored 15 of the final 19 points.
The Roadrunners opened a 19-5 lead in the second and scored the final 10 points of the third set.
Metro State will host No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
