Volleyball gets swept by No. 6 UNK in front of record crowd

No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney swept No. 10 Metro State 25-16, 25-22, 25-13 in front of a record crowd at Metro State on Saturday.  The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 20-5 overall and 12-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UNK improved to 26-1 and 15-1.

Metro State had a crowd of 868, topping the previous record of 741 set last season against Regis.

Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) was the only Roadrunner to hit over .100, hitting .367 with 14 kills and three errors in 30 attempts.  The Roadrunners hit just .085, a season low.

Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) had 18 digs defensively to lead Metro State.

UNK hit .248 and was led by Haley Lake with 19 kills, while hitting .567.  Her 19 kills were the most against Metro State this season in a three-set match.

Metro State was blocked six times in the first set and hit -.025.

The Roadrunners held a 15-13 lead in the second set, but UNK broke a 19-19 tie with six of the final nine points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Metro State fell behind 10-3 in the third and was unable to recover.

The Roadrunners will travel to No. 25 Regis for a 7 p.m. match on Saturday.
