DENVER - A.J. Marquez scored just a 1:29 into the first overtime to give Colorado Mesa a 2-1 victory over No. 14 Metro State on Sunday in Denver. The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 7-4-1 and 5-3-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CMU improved to 3-9-1 and 3-6-0.
It was the first-ever win for the Mavericks against Metro State in the 11th meeting between the two schools.

CMU was awarded a penalty kick at 38:08 after a handball was called on Metro State after a hard shot from the left wing was fired into
Scott Crawford (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.)'s left arm. Danny Molineaux's ensuing kick hit off the cross bar and then into the net.
For the second straight game, Metro State dominated the game statistically, but came up short on the scoreboard. The Roadrunners outshot Mesa 19-8, including 7-3 in shots on goal.
The Roadrunners will travel to No. 1 Fort Lewis on Friday for a rematch of this past Friday's game that resulted in a 1-0 decision for the Skyhawks.
