GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -
Kelly Parkhurst scored two goals as Colorado Mesa eliminated Metro State from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday in Grand Junction. It was the second year in a row the Roadrunners have been knocked out in the quarterfinals as they dropped to 12-6-1 this season.  CMU improved to 9-6-4.

Metro State came out on fire, ripping five shots in the first 11 minutes and not allowing a shot, but the Mavericks turned it on from there. Parkhurst fired a shot from 30 yards out in the 27th minute for the game's first goal to give CMU a 1-0 lead.

Nicole Pollack (Englewood, Colo./Englewood H.S.) answered back 10 minutes later for the Roadrunners, heading in Hayley Marsh (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.)'s free kick.

The game remained tied until 75:54 when Parkhurst again struck from long distance as her 25-yard kick floated in above Metro State goalkeeper Danielle Quigley (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.)'s reach.

Maverick goalkeeper Sarah Schnetzler stopped eight shots, including three in the final 12 minutes.  Quigley made two saves.

Metro State will find out if it qualifies for the NCAA Tournament during the NCAA selection show at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at www.ncaa.com.
