Double-Doubles Power Men's Basketball to Home Win

DENVER -
Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) and Glenn Miller (Sacramento, Calif./Foothill H.S.) each recorded double-doubles as Metro State earned an 80-50 victory over Western New Mexico at home on Friday.  The Roadrunners improved to 19-5 overall and 16-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while WNMU fell to 12-15 and 12-8.

For Evans, it was the first double-double of his career as he put up 19 points to go with a career-high 10 rebounds.  Miller scored career-high 15 points and had 10 rebounds.  Shakir Johnson (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey H.S.) continued his hot streak, hitting 7-of-8 from the floor and scoring 16 points.  Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) added 10 points.

#A.J. Flournoy# dished out a game-high six assists and had eight points and eight rebounds.  Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and had eight points and three assists.

Metro State outrebounded WNMU 52-32 and held the Mustangs to just 25.5 percent shooting.

Evans buried a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left in the first half to stretch the lead to 36-25, the first double digit lead for the Roadrunners of the night.  After a dunk by T.J. Riley, Evans drained a three-quarter court shot at the buzzer, sending Metro State into halftime up 39-27 on a thrilling basket.

The second half was all Metro State as it outscored WNMU 41-23, stretching its lead to 30 points with 2:21 to play.  Metro State took a 31-point lead at 78-47 with 1:11 left, its largest lead in over a month.

The Roadrunners will host New Mexico Highlands at 5 p.m. on Saturday for their homecoming game.
