DURANGO, Colo. - No. 7 Metro State swept Fort Lewis on the road on Friday evening, 25-21, 25-15, 25-19. The Roadrunners improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC fell to 3-7 and 0-2.
Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) led the offense with 13 kills and hit .440 (13-2-25).
Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) was second with nine kills and
Julie Causseaux (Dumas, Texas/Dumas H.S.) added six. Morley also had four blocks.
Defensively,
Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) dug up 18 attacks to lead the Roadrunners.
Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) had five.
Metro State hit .349 in the match as
Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) dished out 23 assists.
Metro State led 22-15 in the first set before the Skyhawks ran off six of seven points to cut the lead to two at 23-21. A kill from Greenhalgh and an attack error on the Skyhawks finished the set.
Trailing 8-6 in the second, Metro State scored seven in a row to take control of the set.
The Roadrunners hit .414 in the final set.
Metro State will wrap up its three-match road trip at Western New Mexico on Saturday evening.
