Box Score

SILVER CITY, N.M. -
No. 7 Metro State was shocked on Saturday evening 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 20-25, 15-11 in five sets at Western New Mexico.  The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  WNMU improved to 6-5 and 2-1. The loss was the first loss for Metro State to a team not ranked in the top 25 since Sept. 3 last year when the Roadrunners were swept by Western Washington.

Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) had 22 kills to lead the team, but the rest of the team struggled offensively as she was one of only two players with 10 or more attempts to hit higher than .250.  Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) notched a .440 hitting percentage with 13 kills and two errors in 25 attempts.  Julie Causseaux (Dumas, Texas/Dumas H.S.) had 12 kills and Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) had 10.

Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) was steady in the back row with 25 digs and Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) also dug up 10.  Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) had a season-high 40 assists.

WNMU hit .206 in the match, the first time this season a Metro State opponent has hit over .200.

Errors plagued the Roadrunners all night as they committed 10 service errors, five receiving errors, 23 attack errors and three blocking errors.

Metro State will look to bounce back on Tuesday at home against No. 25 Regis University at 7 p.m.
