Women's soccer: Price, Renko provide difference in win at RMAC tournament

Box Score DENVER - Metro State defeated Colorado Mesa 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament.  The Roadrunners will play at No. 19 Colorado Mines on Friday at 12 p.m.

The Roadrunners controlled the pace of the game for the first half but were unable to find the goal.  The Roadrunners outshot the Mavericks 13-6 in the first half.

In the second half, the Roadrunners came out strong again outshooting the Mavericks 17-3.  Their persistence paid off as Karisa Price (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland H.S.) scored her 15th goal of the season in the 67th minute.  She shot the ball from the top of the box with her off foot after weaving through defenders up the right sideline.

Brandi Farley (Colorado Springs/Pine Creek H.S.) scored the second goal of the game in the 79th minute when she flicked the ball in from the top of the goalie's box.  Aubrey Fondy (Arvada, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) sent the ball from the right side across the box to Price, who headed the ball to the center of the box to Farley.

Farley's goal gave the 2-0 advantage and that score held serve as the final score.

Jordan Simkins (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman H.S.) had two saves in the game and the win increased her record to 13-4-2 on the season. It was her eighth solo shutout this season.
