Men's soccer: Late goals end Metro State's season at No. 23 Mines

Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. - No. 23 Colorado School of Mines scored two goals in a span of 12 seconds with under 13 minutes left to eliminate Metro State with a 2-0 win on Friday at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament semifinals in Golden, Colo. CSM will face No. 1 Regis University in the conference championship on Sunday and advances with a 13-4-2 record. MSU's season comes to an end with a 12-7-1 record.

Tannor Randle scored at 77:05 off teammate Alex Nass' free kick from the top of the box. Tesho Akindele stole the ensuing kickoff and drove 45 yards and scored in the lower-left corner of the net for the insurance goal at 77:17.

That was all the Orediggers needed as Manville Strand made five saves for the shutout.

The Roadrunners had plenty of chances in the game with 18 shots, including several opportunities in the final five minutes, but were unable to get consistent shots on frame. Issa Bissau (Denver, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) made four saves for MSU in goal in the final game of his career. Two other Metro State seniors played in their final games as Marc Herschberger (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn H.S.) and Jeremy Brooks (Phoenix/Horizon H.S.) both started their finals games.
