Box Score DENVER - No. 12 Metro State outscored Colorado Christian 42-16 in the second half and won 77-44 on Saturday night in the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 18-3 overall and 14-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, snapping their first two-game losing streak in two seasons. CCU fell to 3-17 and 2-14.
Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.) scored a game-high 21 points and had 11 rebounds for his third straight 20-point game and his fifth double-double this season.
Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) added 17 points and 10 rebounds for his 11th double-double this season. He shot 6-for-9 from the floor.
Freshman
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) pulled down 13 rebounds and added eight points. It was the second time this season that three Metro State players have had 10 or more rebounds in the same game as Metro outrebounded CCU 46-22.
Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) scored 10 points and had a career-high eight assists.
Tyler Cooper (Huntington Beach, Calif./Christian Heritage H.S.) scored eight points off the bench.
Metro State outrebounded CCU 23-13 in the first half to take a 35-28 lead into halftime. Evans led all scorers with 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Metro led the entire first half and held a 13-point lead at 26-13 with 6:04 left, but the Cougars closed the gap to five points with 1:19 left.
The Roadrunners opened the second half on a 9-0 run and built a 20-point lead with 9:37 left. Metro State outscored CCU42-16 in the second half. Metro led by as many as 36 points.
Metro State shot 49.2 percent from the floor, including 5-of-11 from the outside, and also forced 18 Cougars turnovers. CCU shot just 34.8 percent.
Kyle Weaver led CCU with nine points.
Metro State will host No. 5 Colorado Mines at 7 p.m. on Monday.
