Box Score DENVER - Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) put down 12 kills and hit .667 as No. 10 Metro State swept Abilene Christian (Texas) 25-15, 25-12, 25-16 on Saturday to finish third in the Silver Division at the Colorado Premier Challenge. The Roadrunners improved to 5-3 on the season after going 2-2 at the tournament, while ACU dropped to 3-5.
Heath had 12 kills with no errors in 18 attack attempts in one of the best matches of her career. She also had two service aces and two blocks.
Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) continued her huge weekend with 11 kills as she hit .400 (11-1-25).
Amy Wong (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium H.S.) provided 10 kills and
Daleah Whitaker (Denver/Lakewood H.S.) had four in seven attempts.
Setter
Vanessa Gemignani (Colorado Springs/Doherty H.S.) helped the team hit .330, a season-best, as she had 32 assists and eight digs.
Libero
Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) had 13 digs to lead the defense.
ACU hit -.022, the lowest for a Roadrunners opponent this season. Metro had seven service aces as well.
Metro came out firing, hitting .444 in the first set and holding ACU to -.067. The Roadrunners scored the final seven points of the set and used another 7-1 run to ease to the victory.
ACU hit -.118 in the second set as MSU jumped out to an 18-6 lead on the Wildcats.
The Roadrunners will open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Friday at home against Chadron State at 7 p.m.
