Men's basketball: Jefferson, Kay and Morse lead Roadrunners to 37-point win

Box Score LAKEWOOD, Colo. - No. 2 Metro State won by its largest margin of victory this season on Friday night, winning 80-43 at Colorado Christian. The Roadrunners improved to 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CCU fell to 6-10 and 1-7.
 
It is the fourth time in school history the Roadrunners have started a season 12-0 and the second year in a row.
 
Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) scored a game-high 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) recorded his 28th career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. He also had three steals and two assists.
 
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) scored a season-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting and had five rebounds. Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) added nine points. Demetrius Miller (Flint, Mich./Flint Central H.S.) scored a season-low six points, but added a game-high six assists.
 
The Roadrunners dominated the first half, leading 45-19 at the break after shooting 51.9 percent and holding CCU to 32.0 percent. Jefferson had 16 points to lead all scorers at the break.
 
MSU stretched its lead to as many as 42 in the second half.

The Roadrunners shot 50 percent in the game, while holding CCU to 32.7 percent.
 
Metro State will play at Colorado School of Mines at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
