Box Score DENVER - Metro State held on for a 23-25, 25-21, 25-11, 23-25, 15-9 win over Chadron State on Saturday evening in Denver to wrap up the regular season. The Roadrunners improved to 17-10 overall and 13-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC fell to 6-23 and 3-16. MSU Denver clinched a tie for third place in the RMAC.
Senior
Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) led the Roadrunners offensively on senior night with 17 kills and hit .333 (17-5-36).
Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) was on fire, hitting .536 with 16 kills and one error in just 28 attempts.
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) put down 11 kills and hit .364 (11-3-22).
The team's other senior
Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) had a team-high 19 digs and added four assists.
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) led the team with 39 assists and
Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.) had 10 to go with four kills. The two helped Metro State hit .364, the team's second-highest hitting percentage this season.
The Roadrunners led 18-15 in the first set, but the Eagles ran off eight of the next nine points to pull ahead 24-21. CSC held on for a 25-23 win.
Metro State outhit Chadron State .333 to .152 in the second set.
The third set was all Roadrunners as they hit .536, while limiting the Eagles to just .031. Metro State jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the frame.
CSC pulled ahead 20-16 in the fourth set after an 8-2 scoring run.
Leading 8-7 in the fifth, Metro State took advantage of four straight errors by the Eagles to pull away.
The Roadrunners will find out their opponent in the RMAC tournament tonight. They will play on Tuesday in the first round.
