Box Score CHADRON, Neb. - No. 6 Metro State trailed by three points at halftime, but rallied for an 83-71 win at Chadron State on Saturday. The Roadrunners improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Eagles fell to 5-5 and 2-4.
Metro State outscored CSC 49-34 in the second half.
Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) scored a game-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting, with nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) scored 13 points—all in the second half.
Will Sinclair (Lilydale, Australia/Lilydale Heights College) had a career-high 12 points and had six rebounds after hitting all six of his field goal attempts.
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) scored 10,
Jamal McClerkin (Van Nuys, Calif./Chaminade College Prep) added eight and
Harrison Goodrick (Sydney, Australia/St. Joseph's College Hunter's Hill) scored seven.
After trailing for much of the first half, the Roadrunners led 34-29 with 2:56 left in the first half. The Eagles responded by scoring the final eight points of the first half and led 37-34 at half, hitting 7-of-13 from the outside.
After giving up a quick 3-pointer to start the second half, the Roadrunners went on a 13-0 run to build a 47-40 lead with 17:21 left and it was all Metro State after that.
MSU Denver led by as many as 20 points in the second half.
For the game, Metro State shot a season-high 50.8 percent and hit 6-of-14 (.400) from the outside. The Roadrunners also won the turnover battled 8-to-15 and outrebounded the Eagles 35-to-23.
The Roadrunners will be back in action on Jan. 3 at New Mexico Highlands.
