Volleyball: Haun's double-double helps MSU open RMAC play with road win

Box Score

CHADRON, Neb. - Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) had 17 kills and 10 digs as Metro State earned a 25-23, 25-14, 19-25, 25-21 win at Chadron State on Friday evening. It was the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match for both teams as MSU Denver improved to 5-4 overall, while CSC fell to 3-6.

It was Haun's fourth career double-double and she converted a .278 (17-7-36) hitting percentage. Alysa Heath (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) also provided double-digit kills with 11. Kylee Hoagland (Mead, Colo./Skyline H.S.) had seven.

Defensively, it was Alex Green (Peoria, Ariz./Cactus H.S.) leading the way with 17 digs and Heath had a team-high four blocks.

Betty Van Lith (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle H.S.) distributed 43 set assists and had eight digs, while helping the Roadrunners hit .143. CSC was limited to a .110 hitting percentage.

The Eagles trailed 23-22 in the first set when Heath ended the set with two kills as MSU Denver scored two of the final three points.

The second set was dominated by the Roadrunners as they jumped out to an 11-3 lead and hit .286 in the set.

Metro State hit -.079 in the third set. CSC took a 15-8 lead early. A four-point rally cut that lead to three, but another run of five-out-of-six points for the Eagles put the set away.

Leading 15-14 in the fourth, Hoagland served three straight points for the Roadrunners as they took control of the set. A three-point run later in the set trimmed the lead to 20-18, but Haun caught fire late to score three of Metro State's final four points via kills.

The Roadrunners will play at Black Hills State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
