Box Score DENVER - Brandon Jefferson (Flower Mound, Texas/Lewisville H.S.) scored a career-high 34 points as No. 5 Metro State cruised to a 95-61 victory over Colorado Christian on Friday at home. The Roadrunners improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CCU fell to 7-5 and 5-3.
Jefferson's 34 points were the 11th-most in school history and six shy of the school record of 40 set by Reggie Evans in 2010 at New Mexico Highlands. Jefferson made 10-of-15 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from the outside, and hit all eight of his free throw attempts. He also had four assists and two steals.
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) poured in 17 points and had six rebounds.
Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, adding six assists.
Jourdon Hunter (Denver, Colo./Kennedy H.S.) provided 12 points off the bench.
Metro State shot 53.3 percent in the game and outrebounded the Cougars 46-31.
The Roadrunners went on a 13-2 run to lead 40-24 with 6:42 left in the first half and took a 53-32 lead into the break after shooting 72 percent in the first half.
Metro State led by as many as 34 points in the second half.
Friday's win sets up a top-15 showdown at the Auraria Event Center with No. 11 Colorado Mines (12-0, 8-0 RMAC) on Saturday.
