Women's basketball: Brady's career night leads Roadrunners to big road win

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. - Fawn Brady (Grand Junction, Colo./Grand Junction H.S.) had career highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double as Metro State rolled past Adam State 76-35 in Alamosa, Colo., on Friday night. The Roadrunners improved to 6-8 overall and 5-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while ASU fell to 7-8 and 3-7.

Brady shot 8-of-12 from the floor and also had three assists. Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) poured in a season-high 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while grabbing six rebounds.

Amy Nelson (Richmond, Utah/Sky View H.S.), Tai Jensen (Troy, Idaho/Troy H.S.) and Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) each scored eight points. Kya DeGarmo (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) had six points, four assists and three steals.

The 41-point win was the most lopsided victory for the Roadrunners in over a year as they shot 53.4 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Grizzlies 37-24, while committing just 11 turnovers.

Adams State, shorthanded to seven active players due to injuries, was held to just 28.8 percent shooting.

The Roadrunners took advantage of the short bench for ASU and led 39-17 at halftime behind eight points each from Brady and Nelson.

A 19-1 run in the middle of the second half gave Metro State a 43-point lead at 74-31, its largest lead of the game.

The Roadrunners will play at Fort Lewis at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
