Box Score DENVER - Metro State shot a school-record 18-of-18 at the free throw line on its way to an 83-62 win over Chadron State on Friday evening at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 8-10 overall and 7-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC fell to 3-15 and 3-11 in the RMAC.
Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) had a career-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while grabbing a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Roadrunners.
Amy Nelson (Richmond, Utah/Sky View H.S.) shot 8-of-11 from the floor and scored 18 points.
Kya DeGarmo (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) scored nine points, while
Kaysha Fox (Tacoma, Wash./Woodrow Wilson H.S.) poured in eight off the bench, hitting 2-of-2 from 3-point range.
Tai Jensen (Troy, Idaho/Troy H.S.) and
Fawn Brady (Grand Junction, Colo./Grand Junction H.S.) each scored six, while
Cassie Lambrecht (Colorado Springs/Golden H.S.) had four of the team's nine steals.
Metro State shot 44.8 percent in the game and made all 18 of its free throw attempts, to break the school record for most free throws made in a game without a miss. The previous record was 16 in 2003 vs. Colorado Christian.
MSU Denver also committed just 10 turnovers, while forcing 22.
The Roadrunners opened a 39-22 lead at halftime after forcing 14 turnovers and shooting 43.8 percent. Jacobs and Nelson led the team with 10 points each at the break.
Metro State built its lead to 27 points at 54-27 with 14:10 left and maintained at least a 15-point lead the rest of the game.
MSU Denver will host Black Hills State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
