DENVER - Karisa Price (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland H.S.) scored her third career hat trick as No. 17 Metropolitan State University of Denver shut out Regis University 4-0 on Friday night at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver. The Roadrunners improved to 8-1-2 overall and 5-0-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with their fourth consecutive shutout, while the Rangers dropped to 7-3-1 and 5-2-0.
Price scored her first goal on a header at 16:43, punching in a cross from
Tess Hagenlock (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman H.S.) from the right endline.
Her second goal came 4:51 into the second half. She received a pass from
Abby Rolph (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.) near midfield and then dribbled through several defenders up the left sideline and back toward the center of the field near the top of the box, where she blasted a shot from 25 yards out.
Price completed the hat trick at 58:50, heading in a corner kick from
Abby Rolph (Golden, Colo./Golden H.S.). Her previous two hat tricks came against New Mexico Highlands (10/26/12) and Colorado Mesa (9/22/13).
Jordan Post (Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish H.S.) added the finishing touches to the night on a beautiful play started by Price. Her cross from the left sideline was one-touched by Hagenlock out to Post in the center of the box, who hit a one-touch shot in the the net for her second goal of the season. The point for Price was her seventh of the night, tying a career high. It was Hagenlock's third multi-assist game of her career.
Breanna Flores (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) and
Raeanna Rosales (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces H.S.) combined to make four saves in the shutout.
MSU Denver will play at Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
