GOLDEN, Colo. - No. 22 Metropolitan State University of Denver had its seven-match winning streak snapped as No. 13 Colorado School of Mines swept the Roadrunners 25-21, 25-18, 29-27 on Thursday night in Golden, Colo. The Roadrunners fell to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Orediggers improved to 13-2 overall and 6-1 as the two teams are now tied for first in the RMAC.

Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) led the Roadrunners with 10 kills, but the team hit a season-low .140 in the match.

Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) was strong defensively with 20 digs.
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) had 27 assists and eight digs.

MSU Denver outblocked Mines 7-6, led by four from
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.).

The Roadrunners committed nine errors in the first set and hit just .086 as CSM took the frame 25-21.

The second set was more of the same, with 12 errors by MSU Denver, including six in the service game, as the Orediggers quickly went up 2-0 in the match.

MSU Denver played much better in the third set. The Roadrunners led 21-18 after a kill by Haun, but Mines rallied with four straight points to pull ahead and MSU Denver never led again. The Roadrunners managed to fight off match point four times before hitting a ball out of bounds when the match ended after a 29-27 third set.

The Roadrunners will look to get back on the winning side on Friday when they host Colorado Christian at 7 p.m. for Dig Pink Night for breast cancer. All fans wearing pink will receive free admission.
