CHADRON, Neb. - No. 20 Metropolitan State University of Denver earned a 27-25, 25-17, 25-14 win at Chadron State on Saturday evening. MSU Denver improved to 21-3 overall and 15-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC fell to 3-22 and 2-14. It was the ninth straight win for MSU Denver, the longest winning streak since 2010.

The 21-3 start matches the best start to a season for the Roadrunners since they were 22-2 through 24 matches in 1993. They also started 21-3 in 2001.

Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) led the offense with 14 kills and hit .375.
Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) added seven kills and eight digs and
Julia Dorsey (Auburn, Calif./Placer H.S.) had six kills.

Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) had 23 digs to lead another excellent defensive effort by MSU Denver. For the second straight night, the Roadrunners held their opponent to under a .100 hitting percentage as the Eagles hit just .037 on Saturday. Setter
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) had 13 digs and 36 assists, and
Summer Greager (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian H.S.) added 11 digs.

The Roadrunners dug themselves a 6-1 hole in the first set, but they ran off four straight points to even the set at 8-8. A five-point run built a 14-11 lead. The Eagles rallied late in the set with five in a row to hold set point at 24-23. But Noland put down a kill to even the score at 24-24. Quijano finally finished the set with a kill off the block for a 27-25 win.

MSU Denver dominated the second set, jumping out to a 17-6 lead. The Eagles fought off set point with five points in a row, but finally forced an error for the 25-17 win.

The Roadrunners ran out to a 17-4 lead in the third set to win 25-14.

MSU Denver will face No. 6 Colorado School of Mines at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a battle of top-20 teams.
