Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. - Lauren Quijano (Wildomar, Calif./Elsinore H.S.) had a career-high 23 kills as Metropolitan State University of Denver earned a 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 25-15 at Colorado State University-Pueblo on Friday night. The Roadrunners improved to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSUP dropped to 7-4 and 1-1. The 8-2 start to the season is the best since 2011.
Quijano topped her previous best mark of 22 kills, hitting .462 on Friday.
Summer Greager (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian H.S.) continued to be a spark with 13 kills and a career-high 18 digs, while adding a pair of service aces.
Kylee Hoagland (Mead, Colo./Skyline H.S.) and
Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) each had 12 kills and Haun also had 13 digs and two blocks.
Setter
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) continued to set an efficient offense with 56 assists to help the team to a .273 hitting percentage. She also had five digs, three kills and an ace.
Savannah Garcia (Platteville, Colo./Valley H.S.) led the defense with 19 digs and freshman
Jackie Lopez (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame H.S.) added seven.
The strong back-row defense helped limit the ThunderWolves to a .149 hitting percentage.
