Men's soccer: No. 8 Roadrunners cruise to sixth straight win

Box Score DENVER - No. 8 Metropolitan State University of Denver scored three second-half goals for its sixth straight win, topping Colorado Christian 4-0 at The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver on Wednesday night. The Roadrunners improved to 6-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, their best start since opening 2000 with nine consecutive wins. CCU dropped to 4-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the RMAC.

Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) scored the only goal of the first half at 5:37, putting in his own rebound.

Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) got things going in the second half at 53:50. Jack Mayfield (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) passed a ball from the midfield through two defenders, giving Belfrage a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper in the box for an easy goal.

Belfrage scored again at 75:22, putting in a rebound off a saved shot by Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.).

Arrubla scored a goal of his own three minutes later, finishing a cross from the right corner from Roe Shrestha (Boulder, Colo./Boulder H.S.) with a one-touch shot in the center of the box.

James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.) made two saves and combined with Keegan Hand (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley H.S.) for the shutout.

MSU Denver outshot CCU 35-to-9 in the game. Arrubla led the team with 10 shots.

The Roadrunners will play at Colorado State-Pueblo on Sunday.
