GOLDEN, Colo. - Caleb Waitsman hit a 10-foot jumper from the right baseline as time expired to give No. 9 Colorado School of Mines a 59-57 overtime win over No. 10 Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday night in Golden. The Roadrunners dropped to 12-3 and 8-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Orediggers improved to 13-0 and 9-0 in the RMAC. Mines moves into first place in the RMAC after Colorado Mesa upset No. 2 UCCS on Saturday.

Mitch McCarron (Brisbane, Australia/Genesis Christian College) helped the Roadrunners rally from an eight-point deficit midway through the second half with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, scoring a basket with 1:21 left in regulation to tie the game for the first time since 0-0. After Trevor Ritchie scored a basket with 49 seconds to go,
Nicholas Kay (Tamworth, Australia/Newington College) sunk a pair of free throws for the Roadrunners with 32.7 seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime tied 53-53.

MSU Denver took its first lead of the night at 56-55 with 1:51 to go in overtime after a pair of free throws by Kay. Trailing 57-56,
DeShawn Phenix (Fort Worth, Texas/North Crowley H.S.) sunk 1-of-2 at the line with 20.7 seconds remaining to tie the game. After a timeout, Ritchie drove down and dished to Waitsman with two seconds left and the game-winning basket fell through the net as time expired.

Kay made all seven of his free throw attempts and finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Phenix had 11 points off the bench.
Bounama Keita (Saint-Louis, Senegal/Impact Basketball Academy (Fla.)) had a game-high 10 rebounds.

MSU Denver struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 35 percent from the floor as the Orediggers built a 27-19 halftime lead. McCarron carried most of the load, scoring 10 points.

Gokul Natesan led the Orediggers with 12 points and four steals, making 4-of-6 from the outside.
