Denver – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team fell to Southwest Minnesota State University 75-59 on Friday night.  The Roadrunners are now 2-3 on the season and the Mustangs are 2-3 overall.
The first half was a battle for both teams.  MSU Denver held Minnesota State without a field goal for the first three minutes of the game. The Mustangs shot 51.7 percent from the field, giving them the 40-31 lead at half.
The second half was a struggle for MSU Denver, who was held to 40 percent shooting from the field while allowing the Mustangs to shoot over 50 percent again. The Mustangs owned the glass, grabbing 38 total rebounds and 11 offensive boards to the Roadrunners 22, and only three offensive boards.
The Roadrunners had three players scoring in the double-figures. Junior
Brian Howard (Maywood, Ill./Saint Ignatius H.S.) led the team with 19 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from three point range. Â Senior

Peter Møller (Værløse, Denmark/FalkonergÃ¥rdens Gymnasium) each added 10 points for the Roadrunners.
The Hilton Garden Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic will conclude on Saturday. The Roadrunners will face Pittsburg State at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center.
