Golden, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Colorado School of Mines in the semifinal round of the RMAC Tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Roadrunners fell behind 1-0 in the first half after Peyton Sanders scored her second goal of the year in the 17th minute. Sanders was assisted on the goal by Haley Cole. MSU Denver sophomore goalkeeper
Raeanna Rosales (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces H.S.) made five saves in the first half. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of Colorado Mines at halftime.
The second half began with Colorado Mines scoring in the 54th minute on a shot from 20 yards out by Acacaia Ortiz to make the score 2-0. Ortiz was assisted on the play by Brooke Stoermer. The Roadrunners would respond in the 68th minute when freshman
Korena Perales (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) scored on a free kick from the left side of the goal. Rosales would tally another four saves in the second half to give her nine for the game.
MSU Denver finishes the season 8-7-5 overall.
